Julie Page, an Oregon native, holds a BA in music from the University of Portland (2004), an MM in Piano Pedagogy and Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2008), and is currently a DMA candidate in Collaborative Piano at UW-Madison, studying with Martha Fischer. In January 2011, she became the newest member of the Kat Trio.
Julie served as adjunct instructor of class and private piano at Edgewood College from January 2008-May 2011. Before beginning her graduate studies, she worked for two years as associate instructor of piano and music theory at the Joanna Hodges Piano Studio in Vancouver, WA. Julie is an active chamber musician and has collaborated with both UW and Edgewood students and faculty in a variety of performance settings. She has performed as an accompanist for the Madison Youth Choirs, Edgewood Campus-Community Choir, and UW-Madison Chorale, and has worked as a collaborative pianist at the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp.
Julie has been named the winner of several competitions, most recently the University of Wisconsin-Madison Concerto Competition (2007), and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Beethoven Competition (2008). A strong supporter of arts outreach and engagement, Julie served as student coordinator for the UW-Madison Educational and Performance Outreach Program (EPO), a program devoted to bringing the University and community together through collaborative musical events, from 2009-2011 (http://music.wisc.edu/outreach/epo).
She is currently working on a Doctoral Project entitled "Classical Music and 21st Century Audiences: Engaging the Broader Public through Innovative and Interactive Performance," and is teaching a special topics course at UW-Madison entitled "Engaging 21st Century Audiences." Julie was recently awarded the David and Edith Sinaiko Frank Graduate Fellowship for a Woman in the Arts and will present a public exhibition in May 2012 focusing on the results of her special topics course.
